Born in New Canada, Lunenburg County, on May 27, 1881, he was a son of Jacob and Sophia (Dorey) Wagner. Read More	Dennis Freeman Wagner 1971 Bridgewater Bulletin Death visited the little community of Falkland Ridge on Thursday afternoon, March 18, 1971, and claimed the oldest resident, Dennis Freeman Wagner. Born in New Canada, Lunenburg County, on May 27, 1881, he was a son of Jacob and Sophia (Dorey) Wagner. With his parents he came to Falkland Ridge when very young, and with the exception of a short time when he was employed in Maine, he spent his entire life here, where he was employed in farming and lumbering until his retirement. A staunch conservative, he was keenly interested in politics and although handicapped by deafness, he maintained great interest in the events of the times, reading the daily paper without the aid of glasses. He enjoyed visitors, young or old, and conversed on any subject, until a few hours before his death, which followed a stroke. Twice married, his first wife, Fannie Silver of Lunenburg, died in August, 1944. Of this union, there were seven children: Clarence of Springfield; Marian (Mrs. Robert Clattenburg) who died in 1966, of Springfield; Ernest of Waterville; Wallace of Dartmouth; Harold, at home; Gerald, an employee of the City Works Department. Dartmouth; and Lorimar, Montreal. His second wife, Mrs. Jean Whitman of Lawrencetown, died nine years ago. Twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren survive, as do a numberof nieces and nephews in Caribou and Kingfield, Maine and in Massachusetts and Nova Scotia. He was the last surviving member of his family, having been predeceased by brothers, Emerson, Maynard, and Anthony and sisters, Mrs. Adelia Meldrum and Mrs. Lottie Wile Cameron. Funeral services under the direction of Langille's Funeral home were held Saturday afternoon from the Baptist Church at Falkland Ridge of which he was a member since early manhood.
