Dennis was born October 23, 1920 in Dodge, Nebraska to Frank and Philomena (Dohmen) Kassmeier. He grew up near Dodge and served in the U.S. Army during WWII from Oct. 22, 1942 to Jan. 3, 1946 in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. Dennis married Germaine Kluthe on April 6, 1948 at Dodge, NE. Dennis was born October 23, 1920 in Dodge, Nebraska to Frank and Philomena (Dohmen) Kassmeier. Penney's while working for Magnus Metal. Dennis retired in 1985. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, V.F.W. Post #854 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles #200, all of Fremont. Dennis is survived by daughters, Janet and husband, Mike Nemecek of Omaha and Phyllis and husband, Dave Wennstedt, of Papillion; son-in-law, Terry Gentry of Fremont; brother, Delbert and wife, Esther Kassmeier of Howells, NE; sister, Valdean and husband, Bill Hagedorn of Lincoln, NE; 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Germaine, who died July 5, 2000; daughter, Cheryl Gentry; and brothers, Alfred, Anton, and Ed Kassmeier. Funeral Mass is 10:30 A.M.,Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fremont, NE. The Rev. Father Benjamin Boyd will officiate. Vigil Service/ Rosary, 7 PM, Tuesday, at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Visitation on Tuesday from 4 PM to 8 PM with the family receiving friends from 5 PM to 7 PM all at the funeral home. Visitation on Wed. at church 1hr prior to service. Burial at Calvary Cemetery in Fremont with military honors conducted by the Fremont Honor Guard of V.F.W. Post #854 and American Legion Post #20.
