Description	:	Dennis John Fontaine, 62, of Grand Forks, ND passed away Monday, October 8, 2012 from primary brain cancer at his home under the care of his wife, Barbara Fontaine and Hospice Services. He was born October 29, 1949 in Grand Forks to the late Edward and Regina (Dorscher) Fontaine. Read More	Dennis John Fontaine, 62, of Grand Forks, ND passed away Monday, October 8, 2012 from primary brain cancer at his home under the care of his wife, Barbara Fontaine and Hospice Services. He was born October 29, 1949 in Grand Forks to the late Edward and Regina (Dorscher) Fontaine. On January 31, 1972, he and Barbara Martin were united in marriage at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Grand Forks. Dennis was a 1967 graduate of Central High School. He served in the Army National Guard from 1967-1974. Dennis worked in the maintenance department at Altru Health Systems for 27 years, "retiring" in 1999. Dennis enjoyed riding his Harleys, his love for which was passed on to his two sons. Dennis eventually switched from riding "the hog" to riding recumbent bicycles and would go on rides that would last hours. Dennis was a very handy man. He could fix anything and was very patient. If he didn't know how to immediately fix something, you could leave it in his hands and he would tinker with it until he got it figured out. He and Barb started wintering in Yuma, Arizona in the fall of 2003. They met many great friends and he was fond of going to jam sessions to listen to music. While in Arizona, he became a member of the AZ Old Time Fiddlers Association. Dennis loved his family. He and Barbara celebrated their 40th anniversary in January. They lovingly raised 2 sons and were blessed with 3 grandchildren. He took great delight in his grandchildren and they in him. He was affectionately know as the "hugging grandpa" for he wouldn't let the kids leave until he got his hug from them, even if that meant chasing them around so he could "steal" one. They visited him often, sat at his bedside and made him smile. He was fortunate enough to stay in his home, while his wife cared for him and was surrounded by his family as he entered into his heavenly home. He will be greatly missed by his many friends and family. Survivors include his wife: Barbara Fontaine; two sons: Derrick (Ann) Fontaine and Travis (Christina) Fontaine ; three grandchildren: Aaron Fontaine, Reagan & Rowan Fontaine; two sisters: Lois (Bill) Jeffrey and Janice Fontaine; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Kenneth Fontaine. Memorial Mass: 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 13, 2012 in Holy Family Catholic Church, Grand Forks, ND. Family Greeting: 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday with a 7:00 p.m. vigil service in the Gregory J. Norman Funeral Chapel. Family Greeting will continue for one hour prior to the liturgy in the church on Saturday. Military Honors: Members of the American Legion Post 157, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3817 and the North Dakota National Guard.
