Description	:	Dennis Graber was born in Freeman, S.D. on December 30, 1934 to Silas and Adina (Walter) Graber. He passed away on May 9, 2014 in Menno, S.D., at the age of 79. Dennis grew up on a farm east of Freeman. He was baptized and became a member of the Salem-Zion Mennonite Church in Freeman. Dennis graduated from Freeman Academy High School in 1953. Read More	Dennis Graber was born in Freeman, S.D. on December 30, 1934 to Silas and Adina (Walter) Graber. He passed away on May 9, 2014 in Menno, S.D., at the age of 79. Dennis grew up on a farm east of Freeman. He was baptized and became a member of the Salem-Zion Mennonite Church in Freeman. Dennis graduated from Freeman Academy High School in 1953. He earned his Bachelor of arts degree in music from Bethel College in 1957 and went on to earn his Masters degree of music from the university of South Dakota. He also did further post graduate work at Louisiana State University. Dennis loved music — it was his life. He played several instruments, and was an accomplished clarinetist, band and vocal director. He sang with the Robert Shaw Chorale, played clarinet in the Sioux Falls Municipal Band, and directed the Master Works Singers in Freeman. He directed the men's choir at Salem Zion Mennonite Church, and was a music teacher in several South Dakota high schools and college. After several years of teaching, he retired and worked as a rural postal carrier, as well as a beekeeper in Freeman. Dennis loved people, had a wonderful sense of humor, and loved to laugh. Preceding him in death are his father and mother, Silas and Adina Graber. Cherishing his memory are his sister, Vinette (Barry) Bomhoff of Aledo, TX; one niece, Becky (Darrin) Ihnen of Hurley, S.D.; three nephews, Brad (Linda) Bomhoff of Sioux Falls, S.D., Tom Bomhoff of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Matt (Sonja) Bomhoff of Aledo, TX. He leaves eight grand nieces and nephews, four great grand nieces and many friends.
