He grew up in Raglan Township and attended grade school in Magnolia, Iowa, and graduated from Magnolia High School in 1961. He married Linda Burgen on July 26, 1964, in Magnolia. They lived in Logan, Iowa, for two years before moving to Valley in 1967. They remained there until 1988 when they moved to Fremont. He farmed with his father for a short time and then on his own until moving to Valley where he went to work at Valmont Industries for three years. After a short stint in the life insurance industry, he went to work at OPPD where he worked for 32 years before retiring in 2003. He had been a member of the Valley Fire Department and an emergency medical technician. He was an active member of the Waterloo Church of Christ as a teacher, deacon, elder and trustee. He coached his daughters in softball. Dennis L. Arbaugh, 60, of Fremont died Saturday, March 27, 2004, at his home after a long battle with cancer. Survivors include: his wife; three daughters; two sisters, Ilene Dow of Waukee, Iowa, and Virginia (Mrs. Homer) Myers of Fremont; and six grandchildren. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Reichmuth Funeral Home in Elkhorn with the Revs. Ron Wymer, Steve Stolle and Larry Burgen officiating. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home with the family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery with the Rev.
