Description	:	Dennis L. Nus, 69, of Arlington, Iowa, died on Wednesday morning, February 3, 2021 at MercyOne Medical Center, Oelwein. A Private Family Service will be held with Rev. Margaret Yackel-Juleen officiating. A recording of the service will be posted on Wednesday with the obituary on the funeral home website. Dennis Lee Nus was born on April 14, 1951 in Manchester, Iowa the son of Donald Wayne & Dora Lee (Anderman) Nus. He graduated from Starmont High School in the class of 1969. Dennis continued his education at U.N.I. in Cedar Falls and received an Associate of Arts in Accounting degree from Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids. Dennis was united in marriage to Bonnie Lynn Hulbert on May 29, 1971 at Peace United Church of Christ in Elkader. This union was blessed with a daughter, Ericka. Dennis and Bonnie moved to Monticello where Dennis worked as a bookkeeper at Polo Plastics from 1971 to 1974. They then moved to Cedar Rapids where Dennis worked as a bookkeeper at Wilson’s Meat Packing from 1974-1977. Dennis and Bonnie moved to the Nus family farm where Dennis joined his father, Don, and brother, Doug, in the family farm operation. Dennis & Doug were the fourth generation of the Nus family to farm the family farm NE of Arlington. Dennis and Doug, also known as the “Nus Boys” were always willing to help anyone who needed anything. Dennis and Bonnie retired from the farm and moved to town in 2015. Dennis was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. The church community and activities were a huge part of Dennis’ life. He served on the church council multiple times in different capacities and was currently church treasurer. He and his brother were funeral ushers for nearly every funeral for the past 40 years. Dennis had previously served on the co-op board of directors and had been a participant in the Living Last Supper at the Arlington United Methodist Church. He enjoyed his family, especially his granddaughters. They all enjoyed playing games, picking sweet corn, picnicking in the back yard, and fishing on the Mississippi River. Dennis is survived by his wife: Bonnie Nus of Arlington; Daughter: Ericka Nus of Williamsville, New York; 2 Granddaughters: Josephine & Isadora Simms; Twin Brother: Doug (Cindy) Nus of Arlington; Sisters-In-Law & Brothers-In-Law: Terry (Jeff) Larson of Manchester & Denise (Mike) Rohan of Verona, Wisconsin; 3 Nieces: Jackie (Jim) Myers of Lamont, Jesse (Dan) Gossett of Clarksville, Tennessee, Kristin (Sam) Milroy of Manchester; 2 Nephews: Adam Larson of Cedar Rapids & Nick (Angie) Rohan of Verona, Wisconsin; 9 Great Nieces & Great Nephews: Cody & Lucas Myers; Kyler, Ava & Lia Gossett; Aurora & Imogen Milroy and Sawyer & Isla Rohan. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and in-laws: Joseph & Dorothy (Kremer) Hulbert.
