Bridgewater Bulletin The death occurred at the Dawson Memorial Hospital on Saturday morning following an illness of five months of Dennis MacKenzie Sarty of this town, at the age of 63 years. Mr. Sarty was a stonemason by trade, and was born at New Germany, a son of the late William and Eliza Rafuse Sarty. He spent about sixteen years at Worcester, Mass., where he was engaged in his trade, later returning to Bridgewater to reside. About a year ago ,he had the misfortune to lose an eye, the result of an injury sustained when a flying splinter from a stone on which he was hewing, pierced his eye. In politics Mr. Sarty was a staunch Liberal and in religion a member of the former Methodist Church, now United. Surviving are three sisters, (Olive) Mrs. Twining Rhodenizer; (Laura) Mrs. T.K. Knox, and (Elva) Mrs. Cabet Naugler, all of Bridgewater; and a brother, Willard S. Sarty, of Lapland. A brother, Austin, died a year ago. The funeral was held from the home of his sister, Mrs. Naugler, with whom he resided for the past year, on Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock, under the auspices of the LaHave Lodge I.O.O.F., the deceased having been a member of the Order of Middleton. He was also a former member of the Bridgewater Fire Department. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. R.E. Whitney, and the pall-bearers were W.A. Gow, H.J. Wentzell, A.W. Richardson, and Hugh Rhodenizer. Interment was made in Brookside Cemetery, where the last rites of the Oddfellowship were paid. With thanks to Rosemary Rafuse.
