Description	:	MISSOURI VALLEY, Iowa — Dennis Scott Wright, Sr., 59, of Kearney, died Friday, Dec. 25, 2015, at Missouri Valley Community Hospital in Missouri Valley, Iowa. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Prince of Peace Catholic Church with the Rev. Paul Colling officiating. Burial will be at Elm Creek Cemetery. Read More	MISSOURI VALLEY, Iowa — Dennis Scott Wright, Sr., 59, of Kearney, died Friday, Dec. 25, 2015, at Missouri Valley Community Hospital in Missouri Valley, Iowa. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Prince of Peace Catholic Church with the Rev. Paul Colling officiating. Burial will be at Elm Creek Cemetery. O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. He was born Sept. 28, 1956, in Kearney to George R. and Audrey (Swartwood) Wright. He grew up and received his education in Elm Creek and Kearney. Following high school, he worked for DC Lynch Shows and Harm’s Drywall. He married Bobbi Jo Capshaw and two children were born to this union, Dennis Jr. “Scott” and Brandy. On July 27, 1985, he was united in marriage to Patty Hagedorn at West Point. The couple had one daughter, Tonya. Dennis and Patty made their home in Kearney where he worked for Jack Letterman and Co. He also worked for various companies as an over the road truck driver. He hauled livestock and freight to and from all 48 contiguous states. In 1998 he was awarded the Truck Driver of the Year Award from OmaHaul. He retired from truck driving in 1999 due to health reasons and began working for Task Lighting. He enjoyed cooking, making wine, canning and was well known by many for his delicious sauerkraut. He liked working with his hands and tinkering with woodworking. He was an avid listener of KGFW, in particular “Breakfast Flakes” and “Talk of the Town.” His family and friends will remember his keen sense of humor and his knack of having a punch line for everything. He also was a tremendous listener for anyone in need. He was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church, the visually impaired support group and the Lions Club. Survivors include his wife, Patty of Kearney; a son, Scott Wright of Kearney; a daughter, Tonya Wright and fiancé Brian Wagner of Woodbine, Iowa; three grandchildren, Jenna Wright, Colten Wright and Jayden Jo Rose Wright; two step grandchildren, Brenden and Corey Wagner; three sisters, Bonneta Dresden and husband Jim of Wagner, S.D., Sandra Krotz of Oklahoma, and Brenda Gant and husband Richard of Mineola, Texas; two brothers, Dee Allen “Pete” Wright, Sr. and wife Sharon of Plano, Texas and Delwyn Wright and wife Katie of Pleasanton; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Brandy Ellestad; three grandchildren, Gavin Wright, Jayden Ellestad and Aaryn JoAnn Ellestad; a sister, Shirley Wooder; and two brothers, Terry Wright and Teddy Joe Wright.
