Description	:	Dennis Ward Stuck, of Alma, Nebraska passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Hospital, Kearney, Nebraska. Dennis was born April 20, 1924 in rural Nemaha county, near Johnson, Nebraska, the second of two children born to Robert M. and Ida Kathrina (Polsfus) Stuck. His mother preceded him in death at the age of six. He was blessed with a step-mother, Gladys (Zelda) and two more brothers. He graduated from Auburn High School with the class of 1942. Read More	Dennis Ward Stuck, of Alma, Nebraska passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Hospital, Kearney, Nebraska. Dennis was born April 20, 1924 in rural Nemaha county, near Johnson, Nebraska, the second of two children born to Robert M. and Ida Kathrina (Polsfus) Stuck. His mother preceded him in death at the age of six. He was blessed with a step-mother, Gladys (Zelda) and two more brothers. He graduated from Auburn High School with the class of 1942. On October 5, 1944 he was united in marriage to Betty Lou Hathaway and to this union five children were born: Wayne, Judy, Katheryn, James and John. The family made their home in Auburn, Nebraska until 1951 when they moved to Alma, Nebraska. Dennis worked as a Technician for the Soil Conservation Service for 28 years. After his retirement, he and his wife Betty owned and operated a greenhouse and drip irrigation company next door to their home in Alma, Nebraska for close to 15 years. Dennis enjoyed working in his garden, hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed working with his hands and with no construction experience, built the family home and garage in Alma. The family never bought lumber or supplies, relying on there always being a home to tear down and reuse the lumber. Dennis was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church, NARF, the American Legion for over 46 years, all of Alma, Nebraska and the Alma (NE.) Fire and Rescue Squad for over 47 years. Dennis was preceded in death by: parents; wife, Betty Lou Stuck; son, Wayne Stuck; daughter, Judy Bickford, both in 2010 and sister, Nadine Hall. Dennis is survived by: daughter: Katheryn Makinen of Rawlins, Wyoming; sons, James Stuck and his wife, Rita of Nebraska City, Nebraska and John Stuck of Alma, Nebraska; son-in-law, Terry Bickford of West Liberty, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Elaine Stuck of Landcaster, Kansas; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, with one on the way; 8 great-great-grandchildren, with one on the way; special daughter, Colleen Kramer of Waco, Texas; special mentor, Katie Johnson of Alma, Nebraska; brothers, Ralph Stuck and his wife, Wanda of Holiday Island, Arkansas and Gerald Stuck and his wife, Arlene of Hamburg, Iowa and a host of relatives and friends. Interment was in the North Johnson Cemetery, Johnson, Nebraska with Military Honors provided by the Bender-Reese American Legion Post #330 in conjunction with the United States Navy National Guard team.
