Description	:	Deon Carole Bouey died April 10, 2011, at age 87. She was a native and life resident of Humboldt County, fourth generation. She was born in Loleta, her father, Clarence Bertsch owned Loleta Water Works. She grew up in Samoa her grandfather, Joseph Murphy, was long time purchasing agent for Hammond Lumber Company. She was a native and life resident of Humboldt County, fourth generation. She was born in Loleta, her father, Clarence Bertsch owned Loleta Water Works. She grew up in Samoa her grandfather, Joseph Murphy, was long time purchasing agent for Hammond Lumber Company. Her mother ran the Samoa Company Store. In Samoa she made many life long friends. Deon left shortly during WWII to work for the phone company in the Bay Area supporting war efforts. She met her husband, Don Bouey, at Richardson's Grove working a summer at the soda fountain. She and Don owned and operated Industrial Lumber Products Co. in Fortuna and Arcata for many years. From 1965 to 1991 they, then she, on his passing in 1982, ran The Alice Fay Shops, a women's clothing store started downtown and then Henderson Center, by her mother, Alice Wiemars and Fay Falk in 1945. Deon belonged to Eureka Elks, Emblem Club; was a charter member of Baywood Golf and Country Club. Deon's affiliations were with organizations and friends that had lots of parties and good times. She was always looking for the next laugh and joke. She is survived by her children, Rene Chappelle (Lee), of Eureka; D. Daniel Bouey (Judy) of Healdsburg; her grandchildren Shelly Bouey-Clark (Sean) of Cloverdale, Shannon Bright (Justin) of Redding; Jennifer Long (Steve) of Windsor; great-grandchildren: Shelby Long, Simon Bright, Steven Long, Jr. Jackson Bright, Madison Clark and Mason Clark; her brother, Don Yarger of Palm Springs; sister, Darlene Kallio of Washington. Her life long, dedicated friends Marilyn Lepley, Jean Stevens and Edie Barlow who all kept in touch with her weekly if not daily at times her whole life. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, step-father Charlie Wiemars; brother, Gordon Bertsch; sister, Sharon Greathouse; step-brothers Charlie Wiemars, Jr., Delbert Charles, Bob Charles. She remained close to many cousins living in Humboldt County and her in-laws living in Oregon and Southern California. She tried never to miss the family reunions for all sides of her family. Visitation is Monday, April 18 from 1-5 pm at Sanders Funeral Home. Memorial Service is Tuesday, April 19, at 2 p.m. at Oceansview Cemetery Chapel. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to Humboldt Hospice. Published in Eureka Times-Standard from Apr. 15 to Apr. 17, 2011
