Services were held Tuesday, Nov . 18, from the Slihinger-Rossow Chapel in Jefferson for Dessie I. Sexton, 92, Scranton area native and longtime Jefferson resident. Dessie Irene Sexton, daughter of George and Minnie Combs Dillinger, was born April 22, 1905, near Scranton in Greene county. She attended rural schools in Greene and Carroll counties. On Dec . 25 , 1922, Dessie was married to Floyd Sexton in Carroll. They farmed in Carroll and Greene counties until moving to Jefferson in 1950. Dessie was a farm wife and homemaker. She also had worked in the Schopp e Cafe , Louie's Candy Kitchen and Whit e Laundry, all in Jefferson. On Nov . 15, 1997, Dessie Sexton died at Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband Floyd; a daughter, Madonna; a son, Roland; and a brother, Pete Dillinger. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law Marilyn and Wayne Tomlinson of Jefferson; three grandsons, Rodney Tomlinson and his friend Gina, and Randy Tomlinson and his wife Jen, all of Ames, and Steve Sexton of Maui, HI; and a daughter-in-law, Mary Sexton of Denver, CO
