She was born January 10, 1927 and was the daughter of the late Lon and Luvenia Poynter. She was retired from C&P Telephone Company with 40 years of service and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. Dessie was preceded in death by her husband, Pearl Douglas Nichols; a son, Steven Douglas Nichols; brother, Roland "Hody" Poynter; brother, Ronald "Buddy" Poynter; sister, Marilyn Edmonds. She is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, William "Bill" and Sue Poynter of Proctorville, OH; sister and brother-in-law, Gayle and Doyl Chapman of Columbus, OH; brother-in-law, Vernon Edmonds; sister-in-law, Betty Poynter. a step-daughter, Tama Booth; three grandsons, Rocky, Kevin and his wife Kathy and Mark McComas; two great-granddaughters, Cortney Johnson and her husband Jimmy; and Hailey McComas; a very special great-great-granddaughter, Holiday Johnson; one step-great-grandson, Jason Beter; one step-great-granddaughter, Sarah McGinnis; three step-great-great-grandsons, Lucas and Noah Beter and Eli McGinnis; one step-great-great-granddaughter, Madison McGinnis; a special niece, Nancy Wilson; a host of other loving nieces and nephews. Funeral service at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, with the Reverend Jamie Jefferson officiating. Burial at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville.
