Description	:	Detlef and Alvina emigrated to the US about 1888. This family was very poor. Detlef was a stern authoritarian. Alvina and Detleff were divorced in 1908. Alvina lived with Henry until his marriage in 1912. For the next two years she lived with sons Fred and Frank and then returned to live with Henry and Amanda until her death in 1916 at the age of 69. She is buried in Belfield, North Dakota Cemetery. She lived in a little house near Henry and Amanda and Ione can remember taking cookies to her but eating most of them on the way.... Ione also remembers the funeral because her father held her in his arms to see the casket. (We know so little about our grandparents--this seems to be all we can reconstruct. Hopefully other members of the family will fill in the voids. Submitted by Ione Paasch) Detlef Paasch came directly from Germany to Iowa in 1885, or shortly before that date. Detlef's brothers and sisters had already settled there. In 1885 Detlef and his brother-in-law, Julius Beyers went back to Germany, and brought Detlef's wife Alvina, to the United States. Detlef and Alvina brought their children with them. One of the children was a son, Fredrick David. After the death of their son, Benny, Detlef and Alvina were divorced. Detlef, then married Lizzie Aulrich Kuhr. His son, Frank made his home in Minnesota. Detlef's son, Henry homesteaded in Western North Dakota. His son, Fredrich lived in Iowa for a time but later made his home in North Dakota. Submitted by Another family member.
