Bean, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Bean, was born in Pilot Township June 11, 1898, and died at his home on the farm February 16, 1934, aged 35 years, 8 months and five days. He was united in marriage to Miss Ethel Klever March 31, 1925, and to this union were born two children, one son, Leo John and one daughter, Sherleen Ann. After his marriage the young couple went to housekeeping on the farm and continued to reside on this place until his death. In the year 1913 the deceased united with the Methodist Protestant church at Pilot and he continued in this faith to the time of his death. Funeral services were conducted in the Pilot Grove church on Monday afternoon by the Rev. E. P. Spurlock. A large concourse of neighbors and friends coming to pay their last tribute of respect in the way of sympathy, such as are given on such occasions, tears, flowers and kind words. Interment was in the Pilot cemetery. The pall bearers were Raymond Mumm, Wilbur Mumm, George Bean, Jess Bean, Alvin Mumm and Ralph Mumm. The music was furnished by Merwyn Jones and Eardley Barker, who sang Dawn of Eternal Day, There Will Be No Disappointment in Heaven, and Some Day We'll Understand. [Unable to read…].C. Edward accompanied them. He is survived by the widow, the two children, his parents and one brother, Benjamin, also numerous other relatives. The deceased has always resided in the same neighborhood. Here he was born and grew to young manhood. He was a conscientious worker, a firm believer in the Golden Rule. Always willing to lend a hand to a neighbor in need and his Christian character made him beloved by all who knew him. His untimely demise was due to pneumonia from which he had been a sufferer for several weeks. His condition improved a trifle a few days before his death and the hope was held out that he would conquer the disease, but a turn for the worse came and he passed into that sleep that knows no earthly awakening. The heartfelt sympathy of the community is extended to the bereaved ones. CARD OF THANKS We desire in this manner to thank all our good neighbors and friends for their many kindly acts and words of sympathy given us during the sickness and death of our beloved husband, father, son and brother.
