AYERS Dewitt Clinton Ayers was born in Litchfield, N.Y., April 15, 1838 and died April 27, 1921. He was a member of the G.A.R. having enlisted as a private in 1862. He served three years in Co. Rankin, pastor of the United Presbyterian church, assisted by the ladies of the Circle and also at the cemetery under the auspices of the G.A.R. (Note: Surname is misspelled in obituary, should be Ayres)
