Description	:	DeWitte Talmadge Yenger, 46, of Moravia, Iowa, took his life, Monday, April 3, 1950. He was not enjoying perfect health but his condition was not regarded as serious or alarming. Read More	DeWitte Talmadge Yenger, 46, of Moravia, Iowa, took his life, Monday, April 3, 1950. He was not enjoying perfect health but his condition was not regarded as serious or alarming. The Moravia and Main Station community were shocked. Mrs. Yenger had taken their daughter to school just a little over a mile away, he was at the barn choring and waved to them as they departed. Upon Mes. Yenger's return she noticed a commotion among the stock around the barn and went to investigate and found him. He had shot himself and was also hanging in the barn loft. She immediately summoned aid and cut the rope. He and his brother Dwight M. were born March 1, 1904 to Walter Thomas and Minnie V. (nee Jones) Yenger in Drakesville, Iowa. His mother died when he was nine days old. He was given a home and cared for by Grandma Yenger until twelve years of age. When he was twelve years old, his father married Lottie Coffin who made a home for his two sons; Lottie was a true mother to the children. On Friday, February 7, 1936 he was united in marriage with Minnie Hutton. To this union one child, Barbara Louise was born. Dewitte spent his entire life in the Blakesburg and Moravia vicinity. He was an ambitious and successful farmer, very exacting in his work. His life was spent in doing for others. He was kindness itself to his family and everyone. Lottie passed away in 1934, Dewitte's twin brother Dewight in 1936 and his father in 1942. He was survived by his wife, Minnie; daughter, Barbara Louise; a number of aunts and uncles and his wife's family, who thought of him as a brother and a son. Funeral services were held Thursday, April 6, 1950 in the afternoon at the Turner Funeral Home where the Reverend Earl Rabuck officiated. Interment was in the Hillcrest Cemetery. Pallbearers were Edward Points, Glen Van Dorin, William Long, Lee Benz, Orman Whicker and Max Whicker. On November 16, 1963 Barbara married Walter Jonn Gorman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lige Gorman of Centerville, Iowa. They were both employed at the John Deere Plant in Ottumwa, Iowa. Minnie Yenger was still living in Marovia, Iowa at that time.
