DIANE was born on August 3, 1946, in Boone, Iowa, the daughter of Bert Everett and Edith Loretta (DIXSON) DORAN. DIANE graduated from Boone High School in 1964. After attending the The Boone Junior College for 1 year, DIANE started work as a secretary at Iowa State University, and then as a bookkeeper for seven years. After being a stay at home mom for many years, DIANE got the inspiration to go back to school, first attending DMACC, and then earning a scholarship to Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa. DIANE graduated CUM LAUDE from DRAKE UNIVERSITY in 1988, at age 41, receiving a BS in Education. After graduating, she began her career as a Home health care administrator with Kelly Assisted Living in West Des Moines, Iowa. DIANE thoroughly enjoyed her career, until it was cut short due to her declining health. DIANE married GARY LEE BLOMGREN on September 10, 1965, in the First United Methodist Church in Boone, Iowa. DIANE was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Boone, Questers of Boone, Beta Sigma Phi, and was active in the PTA.
