Dianne enjoyed a carefree childhood which began May 19, 1946, in small town Lake Norden before her big adventure to Sioux Falls; from Nettleton business college to KELO television station—even a star second basewoman in a co-ed league—Dianne gathered and gave love with each growing experience. Love then led her to Northern Food and Dairy in Lake Norden, followed by Alexandria, Minnesota, where she served as an executive accountant where her sharp financial mind was on display. It became commonplace for her to correct the bank’s records when she discovered that the bank was a few pennies off on the company’s account. Dianne enjoyed her last decade serving in the Sioux Falls School District and living closer to her children—that is, her nine nieces and nephews (whom she called dollies and buddies) and her eight great nieces and nephews (her angels and buds); with angel Violet to arrive this Spring. Dianne is affectionately known as Dinah by all her “kids.” Dianne found great joy living on the lake; be it Lake Kampeska, Lake Darling, Lake Poinsett, and finally The Grand Living at Lake Lorraine. She was generous with various water toys whenever her kids came to visit. And when they would inevitably leave smudges from their tiny fingers on her lakeview windows, she would not even clean the windows until just before their next return, even if that wasn’t for several months. Fingerprints meant love had been there. Dianne relished her time in Custer at the family cabin nestled in the Black Hills National Forest. She anticipated the annual Volksmarch at Crazy Horse and enjoyed exploring wildlife along the trails; feeling closest to God in his creation, at one time adopting a baby bear named Ayla. Her spiritual journey began at Evangelical Covenant Church in Lake Norden. She adored being a member at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, where she shared the Skoglund family pew and admired the stained glass in the sanctuary. Stained glass was a favorite pastime; as well as roller hockey, needlepoint, gardening, biking, popcorn duty at the concession stand, and doing anything with her kids. Dianne was also a pioneer for the first Community Bible Study class in Sioux Falls and always ready to share a daily entry from Jesus Calling over a chai tea latte. Dianne is survived by her three siblings, her dollies and buddies, along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Sharing the crown of glory before her are her parents, George and Ruby (Hoglund), and at least a half a dozen of her “kids” who will greet her with Love. A funeral service will be held Sunday, March 17th at 2:00 pm at Evangelical Covenant Church, in Lake Norden, SD, with visitation prior to the service beginning at 1:00 pm. At a later date, a brief sacred moment will be savored at Skogies Peak in the Hills. Memorials may be directed to Lake Norden Evangelical Church or Gloria Dei Lutheran Church; or buy yourself or loved one an Easter Lily and plant it come Summer. A special thanks to “her good Lord” and all his caregivers at Gloria Dei Church, Sanford Hospice and Grand Living at Lake Lorraine.
