Description	:	Dick Van Ommen was born in The Netherlands on February 28, 1883, and departed this life at his home near Oskaloosa, Iowa, on November 21, 1957, at the age of 74 years, 8 months, and 24 days. He was the son of Barend Van Ommen and Dirkie Fransen. At the age of one year he came to America with his parents and family and spent the early years of his life in and near Pella, Ia. Read More	Dick Van Ommen was born in The Netherlands on February 28, 1883, and departed this life at his home near Oskaloosa, Iowa, on November 21, 1957, at the age of 74 years, 8 months, and 24 days. He was the son of Barend Van Ommen and Dirkie Fransen. At the age of one year he came to America with his parents and family and spent the early years of his life in and near Pella, Ia. On February 26, 1908, he married Jennie De Bruin and they started farming near Pella, later moving to the Leighton and Oskaloosa areas. To this union four daughters were born, namely: Dorothy, Mrs. Clayton Uitermarkt, and Wilma, Mrs. Henry Van Roekel, both of Leighton; Bernice, Mrs. Richard Van Roekel, and Jeanette, Mrs. Floyd Ver Steegh, both of Oskaloosa. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife Jennie, his four daughters, 23 grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. N.H. Bogaard of Des Moines and Mrs. Ben Vogelaar of Pella. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, five sisters, and one grandchild. As a young man he made confession of his faith in Jesus Christ as his Savior in the Third Reformed Church of Pella, later transferring his membership to Ebenezer Reformed Church of Leighton and since 1920 he has been an active member of the Central Reformed Church of Oskaloosa. He served in the consistory for many years and also as Sunday School teacher. His testimony and example were an inspiration to many. He was a kind and loving husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed. Funeral service's were held on Saturday. Nov. 23, at the Central Reformed Church of Oskaloosa with burial in Evergreen Cemetery at Leighton.
