Description	:	Dietrick was born at Oldenburg, Germany to Johann and Margaret (Wilkens) Dey. He came to the United States when he was nine years old with his father and sister (Mrs. Gerd [Margaret] Albers) after his mother died in Germany. Dietrick's family first lived in Clayton Center, Iowa and later moved to Hancock, Illinois. Dietrick's father remarried in Iowa to Venne (Fanny) Flessner. Dietrick's family first lived in Clayton Center, Iowa and later moved to Hancock, Illinois. Dietrick's father remarried in Iowa to Venne (Fanny) Flessner. The family soon moved to Seward County, Nebraska and seven more children were added to the family. They are William Dey, John Dey, Herman Dey, Mrs. John (Anna) Goodwon, Louis John Dey, Mrs. Carl (Gesina) Schleuter, and Mrs. George (Emma) Landenberger. Dietrick was married on September 19, 1878 to Miss Trintje Aden. She had come to the United States at the age of eleven with her parents Habbe Lubben Aden and Tepka (Frericks) Aden. Trintje was born April 8, 1858 in Holtrop, East Friesland, Germany. The Adens were Methodists and Trintje loved to sing hymns. At dusk, she wouldn't light the lamps and she would sit on the porch in a rocker and sing. Her daughter Jennie Heineke said she had a beautiful voice. Dietrick and Trintje ahd eight children: Mrs. Garrett (Margaret) Walford, Herman Fredrick Dey, John Dietrick Dey, George Antone Dey, Mrs. Rudolph (Ellen) Peterson, Mrs. Richard (Lena) Tonniges, Mrs. Carl (Alma) Wolf, Carrie Dey, who died in 1900, and Mrs. George (Jennie) Heineke. When they retired from farming, they chose Gresham, Nebraska as their home.
