Description	:	Toon Doornink Dies Of Heart Attack Mr. Toon Doornink passed away very suddenly at the farm home of his son Gerrit on Monday afternoon. He had gone to the farm for the day and was raking leaves in the grove. Read More	Toon Doornink Dies Of Heart Attack Mr. Toon Doornink passed away very suddenly at the farm home of his son Gerrit on Monday afternoon. He had gone to the farm for the day and was raking leaves in the grove. When he failed to come to the house when called for lunch, the family investigated and found him dead, as the result of a heart attack, which had occurred just a few minutes before they searched for him. Mr. Doornink would have been 83 years old today (Thursday). Born in the Netherlands on Oct. 6, 1867, he came to this country at the age of two and a half years. They settled first in Greenleafton, Minn., and then came to live in Sioux County on the farm where he passed away, which is located two miles west of Sioux Center. He was one of the old settlers and recalled living in a sod hut. Mr. Doornink was married on Feb. 17, 1898 to Jane Eppink who now survives with the three children, Dick Doornink, Gerrit Doornink and Johanna (Mrs. Jake Van Marel). He is further survived by four grandchildren and one brother Ed Doornink. He was preceded in death by three children who died in infancy and one son Wessell John who died at the age of 18 years. Also two brothers. Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon at the home and at the First Reformed Church. Rev. P.A. De Jong officiating. A quartet composed of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Beernink, Mrs. Harold Kleinwolterink and Mr. Gerrit Van Putten sang two favorite selections. "All The Way My Savior Leads Me" and "My Jesus I Love Thee". Burial took place in the local cemetery. Sioux Center News 1949-10-06.
