Description	:	He was born Durk Dijkstra in July 1869 in the farmers and peatdiggers village of Oosterzee (East of Sea), located in the southwestern part of the Dutch northern province Friesland, son of Ane Johannes Dijkstra (1838 Sondel - 1939 Sonnega, Friesland, NL) and Nantje Durks de Haan (1837 Oosterzee - 1919 Sonnega, Friesland, NL). In June 1900 Dirk Dykstra (30 years old, born in July 1869 in the Netherlands, immigrated in 1893, farmer), his wife Jette (26, October 1873, Netherlands, immigrated in 1893, mother of one living child) and their son Ane (2, Iowa) were living in Signal Township, Charles Mix County, located in the southeastern part of South Dakota. In January 1903 his wife Yetje died at the age of 29 years in Platte Colony, Charles Mix County, South Dakota. On November 9, 1905 Dick A Dykstra married in Platte, Charles Mix County, South Dakota at the age of 36 years the five years younger Gertie Meyerink, who had Dutch parents too. In March 1906 his second wife Gertie died at the age of 33 years in Charles Mix County, very likely in Platte, South Dakota.
