Dixie was born on February 28, 1939 on the family farm near Almena, Kansas, to Marvin and Inez (Severns) Taylor. Read More	Dixie Beth Green, 83 years of age, of Kearney, Nebraska (formerly of Funk) passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at the Mt. Carmel Home-Keens Memorial at Kearney. Dixie was born on February 28, 1939 on the family farm near Almena, Kansas, to Marvin and Inez (Severns) Taylor. She received her primary education from Buffalo District 17 outside of Oxford where her older sister, Avis was her teacher. She later attended and graduated from Oxford High School with the Class of 1957. While growing up her parents owned the family creamery so Dixie was largely responsible for the upbringing and care of her four younger sisters. Dixie pursued higher education at Concordia Teachers College. Following her education Dixie worked at Petersons Hospital in Holdrege which is where she met Leland Dwaine "Lee" Green and on December 10, 1960, they were united in marriage. To this union two children were born: Gregory Scott and Lisa Kay. The family made their home in Holdrege for nine years, prior to settling in Funk for over 40 years. She was later employed at Phelps Memorial Health Center, Artistic Labels, Bethphage Mission, and the Coffee Cup Café, but her primary role was a homemaker. The couple briefly lived in McCook, Nebraska prior to Lee's retirement and later moved to Cambridge Court in Kearney in 2008 and then to Mt. Carmel. In 2005 the couple renewed their wedding vows at Fridhem Lutheran Church, where they were both members. Dixie's faith was very important to her and one of her enjoyments was preparing and attending bible lessons. Dixie enjoyed crafts, painting, reading, crocheting, cheering on the Huskers, following her grandchildren and extended families' activities, and going for drives with Lee. Dixie was a very kindhearted person and would often think of others before herself. She was preceded in death by her father, Marvin Taylor; mother and step-father, Inez and Everett Taylor; two brothers, Walter Taylor; and Herb Taylor; and a sister, Avis Johnson and her husband, Lloyd "Fat"; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Wilbur "Wig" and Clara (Lampe) Green; and three brothers-in-law, Neal Green; Gale Green; Dennis Green and his wife, Donna.
