Powell Jugler, 91 years, of Fremont, NE died Sunday, September 14, 2014 at Nye Legacy Health & Rehab Center in Fremont. Dixie was born June 25, 1923 to Leonhardt and Florence (Coulter) Woodke in Sac City, Iowa. She grew up in Schaller, Iowa and was a 1940 graduate of Schaller High School. She then graduated from Grand Island Business College in Grand Island, NE in 1942. Dixie married Max A. Powell in 1942 in Shaller, IA. Their early married years were spent living where Max was stationed during WWII, serving as an officer in the Army Air Corps, as a fighter pilot flight instructor. After the war, they moved to Lincoln, NE where they lived until moving to Fremont, NE, where Max practiced law and where they raised their family. Both were very active in the community including the Elks Lodge and Does, Masonic Lodge and the Order of Eastern Star and other philanthropic organizations. They were active members of First United Methodist Church in Fremont and for a while sang in the church choir along with their son and daughter. Max died in 1981. Dixie was united in marriage with Leo V. Jugler in 1983, a longtime Fremont resident and Hormel executive. Dixie and Leo enjoyed many years of retirement together including many winters in Arizona until Leo died in 2004. She is survived by her son, Kent and wife, Kimber Powell of Ankeny, Iowa; daughter, Kathleen and husband, Steve Bryant of Lincoln, NE; step-son, John Jugler of Fremont, NE; step-daughter, Anne and husband, Glen Coles of El Segundo, CA; 11 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 husbands. Dixie was always an active person in the community and loved nothing more than the time spent with her family and the many people she was privileged to associate with during her time in Fremont. Her family wishes to give our thanks to all the fine staff at Nye Legacy who have given her excellent care when it was needed. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, on Monday, September 22, 12014 at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont, NE. The Rev. Michael McGregor of First United Methodist Church in Fremont will officiate. Visitation on Monday 1 hour prior to service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont. Memorials may be given to the Masonic Eastern Star Home for Children in Fremont.
