Born 24 April 1922 in Deer Park, Md., she was a daughter of the late David Aaron and Stella Frances (Schell) McNemar. She was also predeceased in death by her husband, John William McKone Sr.; a son, J. William McKone Jr., and six brothers, Lester, Hal, Ray, Harold, Woody and Lonnie McNemar; and three sisters, Helen, Twila and Fay McNemar. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Mrs. McKone was a 1940 graduate of Southern High School, Oakland, Md. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Westernport, Md. Surviving are her children, Carole L. George and companion Gary E. Ack Sr., and Cynthia A. Marie McKone, both of Keyser; Francis David ‘Mickey' McKone and wife Tammy Ann, of Georgia; Robert Joseph McKone of Piedmont, and Patrick Michael McKone of Beckley, W.Va.; her grandchildren, Earle ‘Buck' N. George Jr., Robert L.George, Jeff McKone, Siobhan Tabor, Drew McKone, Robert J. McKone II, Kevin McKone, Kayla Keckley, Patrick, Michael McKone Jr., and Kristina King; sister-in-law, Linda McKone Beach of Thurmont, Md., and numerous great-grandchildren. Friends were received at the Markwood Funeral Home, Keyser, on Friday 20 September 2013 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Assumption Catholic Church, Keyser, on Saturday 21 September 2013 at 10 a.m. with Father William K. Matheny Jr., as celebrant. A Christian Wake service was held at the funeral home on Friday at 7 p.m. Interment was in St. Peter's Cemetery, Westernport, Md."
