WILSON NEWTON. Dolores A. Wilson, 76, died February 10, 2005 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 14 at the United Presbyterian Church in Newton, with Rev. Don Freeman officiating. Burial will be at the Sugar Grove Cemetery in rural Newton. Dolores was born September 21, 1928 in Newton, Iowa, to Leslie and Cecile (McConeghey) Terpstra. She graduated from Newton High School in 1947 and married Avery Wilson on June 4, 1950 in Kellogg, Iowa. She was a lifelong resident of Jasper County, living in Reasnor, Kellogg and Newton for 53 years. Dolores retired in 1990 as Clerk of the Jasper County Treasurer's Office. She was Past Director at the Jasper County Historical Museum; a member of the United Presbyterian Church for 53 years; Past President of P.E.O. Chapter LC; a member of Questers (Gulielma Zollinger Chapter); a member of United Presbyterian Women; Past President of Soroptimist; PTA President; and a 4-H Club Leader. Dolores was also a volunteer with First Step and active in her bridge club. She enjoyed traveling and had been to all 50 states, Europe and the Carribbean. Dolores is survived by her husband, Avery of Newton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Vanina Wilson of Essex Junction, VT, and Scott and Lisa Wilson of St. Louis, MO; daughter and son-in-law, Joy and Dean Lane of Newton; five grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Chris Terpstra of Exira and Daniel and Carolyn Terpstra of Altoona; and several aunts and uncles. She was preceded in death by her parents. Friends may call from 12 to 5 p.m. Sunday, February 13 at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton, where the family will greet friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Memorials to the United Presbyterian Church may be left at the funeral home or at the church on the morning of the service. ~ The Des Moines Register, published on February 13, 2005
