Dolores (Bone) Carter was born on December 27, 1927 the daughter of A.J. & Gladys Bone in Rainy River, Canada. Read More	Dolores Carter, age 87, of Broadus, MT passed away on February 19, 2015 at the Powder River Manor in Broadus with her husband Kenneth by her side. Dolores (Bone) Carter was born on December 27, 1927 the daughter of A.J. & Gladys Bone in Rainy River, Canada. On September 14, 1949 Dolores met the love of her life Kenneth Carter and shortly after the two were married in Broadus, MT. Kenneth went to work for the Mallett Cattle Company at Powderville, MT until Christmas time when they went to work for Jesse Harris on the LS on the west side of Pumpkin Creek from Volborg, MT. In August of 1950 a son Kenneth Nelson was born. The same year the family moved to Baker MT and worked for the Munsell Ranch. In April of 1952 their daughter Gail was born. And in August of 1953 their third child Camilla was born. In 1954 Dolores and the family moved back to Broadus and started trucking for A.J. Bone. Dolores did a lot of sewing for people around town and worked for Cal Gas. She started working as School Clerk for the Powder River Co School in 1968 and stayed there for 23 years. She was a District VI Director from 1981 to 1990 and received the outstanding service award in 1991 where she won a free trip to New Orleans. She retired from the school district in 1992. She served on the board of the Powder River Manor. Kenneth & Dolores purchased a 5th wheel camper in 1993 and started going south in the winter. They made 2 trips to Alaska. She was an avid reader. She liked to travel and camp. She walked or road her bicycle all over town. She made clothing for all her kids and grandkids. She also made macramé chairs for many people. She was active in the church choir and kept the books for the Powder River Congregational Church for many years. In 2007 they stopped traveling due to Alzheimer’s. She entered the Powder River Manor January 15 2008 where she remained until her death. Dolores is survived by her husband, Kennth F. Carter of Broadus, MT; three children, son Kenneth N. (Thelma) Carter of Hulett, WY, daughter Gail Ivester of Ashland, MT, daughter Camilla (David) Crockatt of Phoenix, AZ; five grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and sister-in-law, Lela Bone of Sun City, AZ Dolores was preceded in death by her parents A.J. and Gladys Bone; one brother, Don Bone; son-in-law, Butch Ivester and one granddaughter Kathy Ivester. A visitation will be held on Friday, February 27, 2015 from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Son’s Funeral Home in Broadus, MT. A funeral service will be held on February 28, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Powder River Congregational United Christian Church. Interment will be held at a later date at the Valley View Cemetery in Broadus. Should friends desire condolences can be made to the family by visiting stevensonandsons.com.
