If you are listening to the service from your car and would like to participate in the service go to https://apt-rest-2868.glideapp.io/ Dolores Sophia Van Dykhorst was born December 2, 1927, in Hamlin County, SD, the daughter of Evert and Johanna (DeWall) Van Dykhorst. She grew up and attended country school in Hamlin County. Dolores was united in marriage to Richard H. Jongeling on May 22, 1951. Making their home on the family farm near Dempster, SD, they were blessed with five children. A dedicated farm wife and mother, she readily and happily did anything needed around the farm. She enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking, baking, and helping with the animals. Dolores also enjoyed playing the piano, Bible studies, and visiting with friends, family and neighbors. She particularly enjoyed crocheting - making special gifts of doilies and afghans for family for all special occasions. Dolores and Richard enjoyed traveling and wintered in Weslaco, TX. Dolores loved the Lord and lived her life with a servant’s heart. As a lifelong member of Hamlin Reformed Church, Castlewood, SD, she loved to play piano at church, sing in the choir, teach Bible School and Sunday School and serve at a variety of church events. Dolores was blessed to be a part of the Faith Reformed Church family in the years following her move to Brookings. She was active in many women’s groups at both churches. Dolores is survived by her children: Dick Jongeling of Austin, TX; Linda (Rod) Sonnenburg of Crooks, SD; Ken (Carol) Jongeling of Oklahoma City, OK and Jim (Jennifer) Jongeling of Onia, AR; grandchildren: Cari (Craig) Olson, Jeremy Sonnenburg, Rachelle (John) Dunn, Leanne (Richard) Stovall, Jeff Jongeling, Bryce Jongeling, Chad (Sarah) Jongeling and James Jongeling; great grandchildren: Emily (Brock) Wickliffe, Jayden Sonnenburg, Anna Olson, Andi Sonnenburg, Taylor Dunn, Emma Jongeling, Piper and Levi Stovall, Kiera, Ephram, and Landon Jongeling and her great-great grandchildren: Haylee Howard and Beckham Wickliffe. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard; one son, David; granddaughter, Jennifer; one sister, Evelyn Saathoff and two brothers, John Van Dykhorst and Eddie Van Dykhorst. - Rudes Funeral Home
