Description	:	Villa da Di Tirano in Northern Italy in the latter part of April in 1921 and came to Canada as immigrants. We arrived on May 13th in Ponoka while there was a snowstorm on. We were met by Lucio Tona with a team and democrat and he drove us to his farm in the Fuller district. We didn't know a word of English and coming to a new country on a homestead was very different than living in a town. Mother didn't like it and would have gone right back if she had had the money. We were told it was a land of wealth and great opportunity so it was sort of a let down. Mr. and Mrs. Tona spon- sored us (that is, they signed the papers for us to legally enter Canada) so Mother and Dad worked for them for a year as repayment. Mrs. Lucio Tona was my dad's sister. In the spring of 1922 my father built a little cab- in on the SW ^-S^S-S-WS which was an open C.P.R. quarter. We moved our few belongings to it and lived there for a summer. Dad did any kind of job he could get in the spring. He cut brush all summer for Mr. Bill Sakofsky in the lola area. He had applied for a homestead SE V4-6-43-3-W5 and we were to move on it in the fall but our little house burned down including all our belongings. We spent the winter with Mr. and Mrs. Lucio Tona again while Dad went out working for other farmers. In the spring of 1923 we moved on the homestead. The people of the district were very good to us and had given us clothing etc. which sure helped. There was a small log house on the homestead which had been built by Murphy Webb as he had filed on it at one time. We lived in it until 1934 when they built the present house on the farm (it has been remodelled and added on to). I received my schooling at the Fuller School. Times were hard when we first lived there, so Dad worked on the railroad in the summer and cut wood to sell in the winter. Mother and I generally had a few cows to milk which helped. It took us all day to take the cream to town and then back home. There was a small log house on the homestead which had been built by Murphy Webb as he had filed on it at one time.
