Description	:	Don C. Boyd, 87, of Plankinton, SD passed away Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral Services are 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at St. John's Catholic Church in Plankinton. A Committal Service will follow at Mizpah Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 30, 2013 with a 7:00 P.M. Don C. Boyd was born on July 9, 1925 to Wm and DeEtte (Caesar) Boyd in Aurora County, SD. He attended country schools, became skilled in welding and went on to a lifelong career in farming. He was married to Eunice Ladner and from this union came two children, Greg and Chuck. On November 14, 1964 Don was united in marriage to Gladys Horstmeyer Mullivan in Wessington Springs, SD - expanding his family and heart with the addition of her five children. Don took pride in being alcohol free since November of 1963 and was also a mentor for quite a few recovering alcoholics. Don will always be remembered as a wonderful Dad and Grandpa. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards and visiting with friends over coffee. Grateful for having shared in Don's life: his wife of over 48 years, Gladys Boyd of Plankinton, SD; six children: Greg (Debbie) Boyd of Belle Fourche, SD, Chuck Boyd of Plankinton, SD, Helen Boyd of Plankinton, SD, Ron (Marlys) Mullivan of Pierre, SD, Don (Maxine) Mullivan of Rapid City, SD and Mary Rudebusch of Madison, SD; 27 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Mavis Haines of Plankinton, SD; along with several nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by: a daughter, Patty and son-in-law, Ivan Overweg; his parents, Wm and DeEtte Boyd; two brothers: Bill and Harold Boyd; and a sister, Marie Hockett.
