Description	:	Don Jones was born on February 16, 1918, at Volga, Iowa, the son of William and Gertrude (Phelps) Jones. He was raised and attended rural schools in the area. On December 1, 1942, Don was united in marriage to Marjorie Ingles in Manchester. Together they farmed mostly in the Wood Center area. They retired to Edgewood in 1992. Don passed away at his home in Edgewood on Sunday, June 3, 2007, following a long illness. He was eighty-nine years of age. Don loved spending time with his family and friends, especially, Sunday dinners and everyone who just dropped in. He also enjoyed horses, his John Deere lawn tractor, Allis Chalmers tractors, cutting wood, and his dog, Rocky. Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Jones of Edgewood; his five children, Gerald (Jeanette) Jones of Edgewood, Gary (Donna) Jones of Edgewood, Judy Weyant of Central City, Kathy (Gary) Clapham of Dyersville, and Janet (Jay) Degenford of Edgewood; twelve grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren. Don was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers; and four sisters.
