Guptill Tatro, 77, of Geneva died Saturday, Nov. 7, 2015, in Geneva. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Farmer & Son Funeral Home in Geneva. Kim Dunker will officiate. There will be no visitation. Dona was born Sept. 5, 1938, in Alexandria, Minn., to Harold and Geneva (Lindholm) Loffer. Survivors include her husband, Keith; a son and daughter-in-law, Steven Guptill and Dena; a step-son, Kevin Tatro; daughters, Kris Guptill and Rebecca Guptill; a step-daughter, Cheryl Knobel and her husband Brad; a sister, Harriet Garrison and her husband Carl; 14 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. ALSO: TATRO, DONA LAVERNE—Dona Laverne Guptill Tatro was born to Harold and Geneva (Jane) Loffer on September 5, 1938, in Alexandria, Minn., and passed away November 7, 2015 at home in Geneva, surrounded by family after a courageous two-year battle with cancer. After graduating high school in Eddyville in 1945, Dona moved to Washington D. C. where she met Milt Guptill. They were married in 1957 and lived the Naval life. To this marriage five children were born: Kris, Gary, Brad, Steve and Becky. In 2005, Dona married Keith Tatro. She gained two step-children, Kevin and Cheryl. Dona and Keith enjoyed their retirement wintering in Rockport, Texas. While living in Maine, Dona was very active in the Jaycees, serving as the Jaycee Wives State President. She was a stay-at-home mom and Boy Scouts den mother. In 1973, the family moved back to Nebraska. Dona worked at Vocational Rehabilitation in Kearney. In 2004, she retired from Epsen Hilmer Graphics in Omaha after 23 years. Dona was an overly avid Husker fan. She loved traveling and living life to the fullest. Holidays and family reunions were a priority for her. Dona’s children and grandchildren were her greatest joy. Getting a scrapbook done for each grandchild was so important to her. Dona was a friend to everyone. She is preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Jane Loffer; sons, Gary Guptill and Brad Guptill; brothers-in-law, Del Tatro and Sterling Tatro. Dona is survived by her husband Keith Tatro; children, Kris Guptill, Steve (Dena) Guptill, and Becky Guptill; stepchildren, Kevin Tatro and Cheryl (Brad) Knobel; daughters-in-law, Brenda Guptill and Melanie Guptill; grandchildren Tyler and Todd Guptill, Jake Guptill, Ryan Guptill, Sara Kelley, Ashley Newton, Stevie and Eli Guptill, Chelsea and Adam Guptill, Kelsey and Tiffany Tatro and Nick Wassom; great-grandchildren, Kristina, Kaitlyn, Rylan, Lucy, Dayton, Hailey, Colton and two on the way; sister Harriet (Carl) Garrison; brother-in-law Stanley (Connie) Tatro; sisters-in-law, Sheila Tatro, Nancy Tatro, and Fauna Tatro; niece and nephew, Lori (Tom) Uhl and Kevin (Nancy) Ozanne. Dona also leaves behind a host of extended family and numerous friends. Memorial services were conducted from the Farmer & Son Funeral Home in Geneva, on November 11, with Kim Dunker officiating. Musical selections for the service were “So Long,” “Hallelujah Square” and “The Dash.” Private family committal of ashes will take place at a later date at the Geneva Public Cemetery.
