Don was born April 4, 1932, in Holdrege, the fourth of five children, born to Andy and Ilo (Edlund) Lind. Read More	Donald Andy Lind, 85 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at the Holdrege Memorial Homes in Holdrege. Don was born April 4, 1932, in Holdrege, the fourth of five children, born to Andy and Ilo (Edlund) Lind. He received his primary education from Bell School and Bunker Hill District Schools and then attended Holdrege High School, graduating with the class of 1949. Following his education, Don began his life-long career in auto part sales. On July 28, 1958, he was united in marriage to Phyllis Maxine Peterson in McCook, Nebraska and with open arms, he welcomed and loved Phyllis' two children, Larry and Judy, as his own. The family made their home in Holdrege, where Don worked as a salesman at Sidles Auto Parts. In 1976, he was given the opportunity to purchase Sidles Auto Parts with partner Leo Kelso, until 1986, when Don became sole owner and operator. After 47 years, Don retired in 1996. Throughout his years in business, Don enjoyed helping customers, and many friendships were formed that lasted throughout his career. On October 10, 2001, he was preceded in death by Phyllis and in the fall of 2013, he began to make his home at Holdrege Memorial Homes, after his health began to fail. Don enjoyed camping with friends at Johnson Lake, working in his yard and attending dances with Phyllis. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, a charter member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie #3132 of Holdrege, and a past member of Holdrege Elks Lodge. Besides his parents and wife, Phyllis; Don was preceded in death by four sisters: Lorraine Norberg and her husband, Robert, Doris Dahlstrom and her husband, Eldon, Marjorie Dornhoff and her husband, Wayne, and Pauline Chappel and her husband, Tom; sister-in-law: Inez Pfeiffer and her husband, Oscar; brother-in-law: Dale Peterson; and niece, Shelley Moore. Don leaves to celebrate his life; his children: Larry Glenn and his wife, Jan of Savannah, Missouri and Judy Stanislaus and her husband, Lance of Independence, Kansas; three grandsons: Chris Anderson and his wife, Gina of Joplin, Missouri, Sean Anderson of Joplin, Missouri and Zachary Glenn of Savannah, Missouri; two great-grandchildren: Kaylie and Bryden Anderson; sisters-in-law: Carmen Bork and her husband, Ralph of LaHabra, California, and Mary Peterson of Gering, Nebraska; brother-in-law, Dean Peterson and his wife, Anita of Thousand Oaks, California; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family is honoring Donald's wish for cremation. There will be no Memorial Book Signing or Visitation. A memorial has been established in Don's honor and kindly suggested to the Holdrege Memorial Homes in Holdrege.
