Heavy Snow Prall's father said his son had obtained a job in Des Moines and was to report for work Mar. 2, the day he disappeared. Police said the young man had threatened suicide. A statewide search began two days later. Three boys found the body. If Prall died Mar. 2, his body would have been covered with snow by two subsequent heavy storms, the snow from which disappeared only last week. Prall was the center of a controversy at the university after publication of the article Nov. 30 in Parade magazine. His picture was on the cover. Two representatives of the magazine conducted a poll at the university, and selected Prall as a typical campus leader. Prall was quoted as saying, among other things in the article written by one of the magazine's representatives: "I'd say my greatest asset has been my ability to dance. You've always got to be in there pitching and smiling and happy and keeping the shining personality turned on and you must try to make yourself popular with the female set in order to be popular generally." For about two weeks after the article appeared, the Daily Iowan, campus newspaper, received and printed numerous letters attacking Prall for the things attributed to him. On Dec. 9 he wrote a letter to the Iowan in which he repudiated the article. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl W. Prall, and a sister. FURTHER INFORMATION: 1.
