Interment will follow at West Lawn Cemetery with military honors by the Nebraska Army National Guard. Donald was born on March 8, 1940 in Valentine to Andrew and Frances (Hostetter) Koralewski. He grew up in Valentine and attended Valentine High School, graduating in 1958. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1960 and served two years in Germany. After being honorably discharged from the Army, Don received a football scholarship to Chadron State College and was inducted in to the Hall of Fame for the 1962 Season.In 1963, he married JoElla Wohlers. To this union three children were born: Kandy, Kory and Steve.Don went to work for Nebraska Public Power in 1964 and worked his way up in the company retiring June 30, 2000 as the Local Manager of minatare.While living in Chadron, Don was a volunteer fireman and actively involved in the Elks Club, including serving as Exalted Ruler. He was a huge fan of Nebraska football and after raising his kids became a full time outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing and golfing. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. He had a standing tee time with his golfing buddies, Dick Paulsen and Harold. He also served as the Mayor of Minatare from 2008-2012. While living in Minatare, he enjoyed volunteering his time as a tutor in the Minatare Elementary School.Don is survived by his daughter Kandy (Brent) Dierksen and their children Mitchell, Hunter, Brock and Chloe; son Kory (Jennifer) Koralewski and their children Faith and Joseph; son Steve (Jenda) Koralewski and their daughter Abby; sister MaryAnn (Merle) Reiser, brothers Jim Koralewski and John Koralewski, his loving soul mate Carolyn Nelson and her family with whom he shared 17 years of his life, his dog Otis and many nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones. Don was preceded in death by his parents, brother Bob Koralewski and infant grandson Hayden Dierksen. Scottsbluff Star Hearald January 2, 2014 12:00 am.
