Description	:	Donald Clyde Ritchie, 72, 1434 Bonita Drive, Fountain, Colo., died Wednesday, May 8, 2002, at Colmery-O'Neil VA Medical Center, Topeka, Kansas. Mr. Ritchie was a native of Spruce Pine, N.C., and a son of the late Alvin P. and Lucricia Alford Ritchie. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Hassie Buchanan and Lucille McNeal, and two brothers, Curtis Ritchie and Clarence Ritchie. Mr. Ritchie had formerly lived in Elizabethton. Mr. Ritchie was a native of Spruce Pine, N.C., and a son of the late Alvin P. and Lucricia Alford Ritchie. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Hassie Buchanan and Lucille McNeal, and two brothers, Curtis Ritchie and Clarence Ritchie. Mr. Ritchie had formerly lived in Elizabethton. He was retired from the U.S. Army after 27 years of service and retired with the rank of 1SG. He served during World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam Era. He was a recipient of The Silver Star, Two Bronze Stars and Three Hearts. He was a Life Member of the DAV and a member of the VFW. He was formerly active in the Boy Scouts of America. He was a member of Sunnyside Christian Church in Colorado Springs, Colo., and a former member of First Christian Church of Elizabethton. Funeral services were conducted at 8 p.m. Monday, May 13, 2002 from Memorial Funeral Chapel. Graveside services and interment were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2002 in the Ritchie Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by the Burial Detail from Fort Campbell, Ky.
