Description	:	Donald D. Robinson was born on November 27, 1913 in Highmore, South Dakota, the son of Harry S. and Mary (Nisewander) Robinson. He died on Friday, July 4, 2008, at Brookview Manor in Brookings at the age of 94. Don received his education in rural school in Hyde County and was a graduate of Highmore High School in 1931. He continued his education at Yankton College and South Dakota State University. From 1938 until 1941, he was employed with New York Life and Northwestern National Life Insurance Company. Robinson was born on November 27, 1913 in Highmore, South Dakota, the son of Harry S. and Mary (Nisewander) Robinson. He died on Friday, July 4, 2008, at Brookview Manor in Brookings at the age of 94. Don received his education in rural school in Hyde County and was a graduate of Highmore High School in 1931. He continued his education at Yankton College and South Dakota State University. From 1938 until 1941, he was employed with New York Life and Northwestern National Life Insurance Company. He was united in marriage to C. Myrene Walton on March 12, 1939 in Brookings. In 1941, they moved to California where Don was employed with Lockheed Aircraft Corp until 1944. He was then employed as a salesman in a sporting goods store in Hollywood until 1946. In 1946, Don was employed with Northwest Bank in Brookings, South Dakota as manager of the Insurance Dept. In 1953, he was promoted to Vice President and Assistant Manager until 1959, when he became President and Manager until his retirement in 1974. Myrene died on April 27, 1995 in Brookings. Don was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, served as treasurer of the Memorial Committee and served on the Board of Deacons. He was also a member of the South Dakota Bankers Association, the Brookings County Bankers Association and the BPO Elks. He was a past member of the El Raid Shrine, president of the Brookings Chamber of Commerce, president of the Lake Poinsett Development Association and served on their board for several years. Don also served as secretary of the District Rotary during the 1960’s. He especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and gardening. Don is survived by one daughter, Katherine Norris of Jackson, CA.; one son Larry Robinson (Martha) of Mankato, MN., six grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and special friend Frances Hillestad. Don was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother and sister-in-law. Funeral Service: 10:30am, Friday, July 11, 2008 First Presbyterian Church, Brookings, SD Rev.
