Don served in the United States Army from 1958 until 1961. He married Carol Robinson on July 13, 1961, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Prairieburg. Don had worked as a carpenter, a painter for Jacque's Home Fashions, Iowa Manufacturing, Collins Radio and Farmstead Builders. He loved to fish, hunt, play cards and golf. Don could fix anything and taught his family how to fix anything. He was an exceptional gardener and had a massive garden when they lived in the country. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Doris and Irene; and two brothers, Rick and Dave.
