Description	:	Donald Dean Zippe, 78, of Austin, Texas, formerly of Burlington, died unexpectedly on May 1, 2004, at Breckenridge Hospital in Austin. Born, September 17, 1925, in Oakville, he was the son of August A. and Mary Kuntz Zippe. On February 14, 1954, he married Wilda J. Brammeier in Mediapolis. Mr. Zippe worked at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant, retiring after 37 years, in sheet metal and air conditioning. He lived with his family on Huron Island in the Mississippi. Born, September 17, 1925, in Oakville, he was the son of August A. and Mary Kuntz Zippe. On February 14, 1954, he married Wilda J. Brammeier in Mediapolis. Mr. Zippe worked at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant, retiring after 37 years, in sheet metal and air conditioning. He lived with his family on Huron Island in the Mississippi. He was a World War II Navy veteran. He went to engineering trade school in Omaha and then returned to the Burlington area. He was a 2nd Degree Mason and belonged to the Des Moines Lodge and was a member of the Sheetmetal Union. He lived in Burlington until November 2003, when he moved to Sun City, Texas, a retirement community near Austin. He enjoyed spending time on the Mississippi River, fishing, hunting, boating, pitching horseshoes and playing the fiddle and banjo. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Dr. Craig D. Zippe of Cleveland, Ohio, Kirk D. Zippe of Pflugerville, Texas and Kent D. Zippe of Mission Viejo, California; two daughters, Lori L. Ford of Georgetown, Texas and Deborah K. Geerts of Austin; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Dolly Marquardt of Oakville and Frances McHenry of San Antonio, Texas; one brother, Harry Zippe of Burlington, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and one sister.
