Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 15, at St. Isidore Catholic Church, 3921 20th St, in Columbus. Donald Dwayne Adkisson was born June 13, 1933 in Platte County to Oscar and Laura (Leimser) Adkisson. He grew up in Platte County and graduated from Kramer High in 1952. Don entered the US Navy and served during the Korean War. On August 30, 1956 he was united in marriage to Lavina Zoucha at St. Joseph Church in Platte Center. Don worked for the Columbus Fire Department and installed many fences throughout the area. He was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church where he served as an usher for over 50 years. Don was a member of the American Legion, Eagles Club, the Knights of Columbus, and was a lifetime member and past commander of the VFW. Don is survived by his wife, Lavina Adkisson, of Columbus; dautghter Kim (Bob) Wiese of Wichita, Kansas; daughter Tamie (Phillip) Stephens of Omaha, son Rob Adkisson of Bellwood,Son Jeff (Jayne) Adkisson of Columbus, son Scott (Cindy) Adkisson of Octavia, 15 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, sister Mary Lou (Mike) Hollman of Silver Creek,sister Carolyn (Hank) Shotkoski of Genoa, aunt Viola Leimser of Columbus and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers; Richard, Gene, Ken and Danny.
