Description	:	On October 25, 2020, Donald Eugene Adams passed away in Chadron, NE with his daughter at his side. He was 88 years old. Don was born April 15, 1932, to John and Barbara (Edwards) Adams and was the youngest of two sons. Don grew up on a ranch south of Cody, NE and graduated from Cody High School in 1950. After graduation, Don enlisted in the United States Navy where he served his country proudly for four years. Read More	On October 25, 2020, Donald Eugene Adams passed away in Chadron, NE with his daughter at his side. He was 88 years old. Don was born April 15, 1932, to John and Barbara (Edwards) Adams and was the youngest of two sons. Don grew up on a ranch south of Cody, NE and graduated from Cody High School in 1950. After graduation, Don enlisted in the United States Navy where he served his country proudly for four years. Upon returning to Cody after his service, Don became the postmaster and held that post until May 1987 when he retired. In retirement, Don managed to stay busy. He ran the Legion Club in Cody for ten years and also delivered mail on a route north of Cody for another 10 years. In both jobs, Don was able to continue to enjoy the fellowship of anyone who he crossed paths with. He was also a very proud and active member of the American Legion Post 319 for 70 years. While living in Cody, Don met Lois Layh from Gregory, SD and they fell in love. They were married on August 30, 1958 and were blessed with two children, John and Mardi. Don and Lois were proud members of the Cody community their entire marriage life until 2015. They then moved to Prairie Pines Lodge in Chadron, NE due to health reasons. Don's life was full. He enjoyed hunting for arrowheads, collecting coins, decorating his house at Christmas time, and fishing. There was not a lake in the Sandhills that Don did not know where to find the "big ones'' and enjoyed taking his grandchildren and whoever else wanted to go. Later in life, you could not have a conversation with Don without him making a trip out to his car to grab the pictures of his latest fishing haul and a copy of the story of the time when he and Jerry Walz tipped the boat over and he had to be fished out by the Ravenscrofts/Adamsons who happened to be moving cattle along the lake and heard his yelling. Don was a great storyteller and he did not know a stranger. Beyond any of his hobbies, the things Don truly enjoyed throughout his life were spending time with his family and being a part of the community of Cody, which to him were one in the same. Although he only had four grandchildren of his own, Don viewed every kid who participated in Cody-Kilgore athletics as family and he beamed anytime he was able to witness one of their successes. In his final days, Don was most concerned about the Cowboys football playoff run and their chances of winning every week. Don is preceded in death and is now reunited with his wife Lois, his parents, John and Barbara, and his brother, Jack and sister-in-law, Betty. Don is survived by his son John and wife Collette Adams of Melbourne, FL, his daughter Mardi and husband Russ of Cody, NE, his four grandchildren, Ashley (Ryan) Bailey, Carmen (Jake) Brown, Alisha Adams, and Kyle (Haley) Milton and seven grandchildren: Addison, Randi, Rylee, Raegan, Leo, Matteo, and Riggs
