Funeral Service will be 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Reverend Bill Walker will officiate. Burial will take place on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at 2 p.m. at the Island Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at the funeral home. Online condolences: Donald was born on September 4, 1939, in Muscatine, the son of James A. and Ethel Snyder Shoemaker. He married Evelyn Perham on March 4, 1960 in Charleston, South Carolina. He was a US Air Force Veteran. He retired from Oscar Meyer after 26 years. He enjoyed fishing, watching tv, feeding and watching the squirrels. Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Evelyn Shoemaker of Muscatine; three sons, James Shoemaker and wife, Sabrina, of Muscatine, David Shoemaker and wife, Corina, of Wilton, and Timothy Shoemaker and wife, Sheila, of Muscatine; two daughters, Teresa Salek and husband, Daryl, of Muscatine, and Charlotte Pallischeck and husband, Dewayne, of Moscow; 11 grandchildren; 11 Great-grandchildren; and one sister, Audrey Danielson. He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Wallace Shoemaker.
