Born Feb. 12, 1918, in Leitersburg, Md., he was the son of the late Hubert B. and Camille E. McCardell Mongan. He retired in 1982 from Washington County Housing and Urban Development. Prior to that he was employed at Fairchild Aircraft in Hagerstown, and for the City of Hagerstown. He was a member of Virginia Avenue Church of God, Hagerstown. Born Feb. 12, 1918, in Leitersburg, Md., he was the son of the late Hubert B. and Camille E. McCardell Mongan. He retired in 1982 from Washington County Housing and Urban Development. Prior to that he was employed at Fairchild Aircraft in Hagerstown, and for the City of Hagerstown. He was a member of Virginia Avenue Church of God, Hagerstown. He was a charter member of Hagerstown Roundhouse Museum, Hagerstown, Marlowe Ruritan, Marlowe, W.Va., and A.A.R.P. He is survived by the following: his wife Susan P. Murray Mongan; one daughter, Brenda S. Brennan of Clear Spring; three sons, Charles Mongan and Donald E. Mongan, Jr., both of Hagerstown, and Thomas Mongan of Colorado Springs, Colo.; one step-daughter, Diane S. Stockslager of Martinsburg, W.Va.; one sister, Ruth Barnhart of Fayetteville, Pa.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague Street, Williamsport. The Rev. A. Paul Harne will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 at the funeral home. For the convenience of family and friends, the funeral home will be open Tuesday after 9 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Virginia Avenue Church of God, 17306 Virginia Avenue, Hagerstown, MD 21740.
