Donald and Roy, along with Wendell Bennet, 9, had been wading in the pond and were returning to the shore when the two Dotson boys lost their footing. Charles Green, 27, Lima Route 3, Glendale-addn., who was fishing on the opposite side of the pond, heard cries and saw the boys struggling in the water. Pulling off his shoes, he swam to the spot, got Roy into Shallow water and searched nearly 10 minutes for Donald who had gone down in about five feet of water. The younger boy was found floating half way under the surface, and when he failed to respond to artificial respiration Green and Harry Joseph, Lima Route 5, placed him in an automobile and headed for No. 3 fire station. Near the fire station they met a police cruiser which took the boy to the hospital. Meanwhile a fire department rescue squad had been dispatched to the pond but on arriving there firemen learned that the boy had been removed to St. Rita's two minutes earlier. The rescue squad returned to the hospital where the resuscitator was used to no avail. Mathers and Cyril Keiffer. Donald was a member of a party of seven who had gone to the pond for a picnic. In the group were his mother, his three brothers, Mrs. Walter Bennett, Nancy Bennett, 15, and Wendell Bennett. The two women had called the three waders to shore and were preparing to go home when the tragedy occurred about 2:45 p. m.
