He was later employed at American Federal Savings and Loan in Des Moines before a disability caused early retirement. He served with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict. Mr. Loomis was a member of the United Church of Christ in Earlham. He was preceded in death by his mother. Surviving relatives include his father; five daughters, Donna Woods and Wilda Thomas, both of Perry, Karen Larson, Sharon Dress and Nora Harrison, all of Des Moines; a son LeRoy Todd of Clarksville, Tenn.; a sister, Leola Dolecheck of Kellerton; and seven grandchildren. A memorial has been established in his name.
