Born June 24, 1919 at Kansas City, Missouri to Arthur and Viola (Methieson)Simmerman. The family then moved to Fremont where he grew up and attended school. They moved to Wahoo in 1938. Simmerman, 75, of Wahoo died Monday, September 19 at Bryan Memorial Hospital Lincoln, Nebraska. Born June 24, 1919 at Kansas City, Missouri to Arthur and Viola (Methieson)Simmerman. The family then moved to Fremont where he grew up and attended school. They moved to Wahoo in 1938. He graduated from Wahoo High School in 1940. He then entered the U.S. Army in 1941. He served overseas in Leige Belgian. He was discharged in 1946. He then went to work for Biggerstaff Furniture and Mortuary until 1949 when he went to work for the U.S. Post Office. He retired from the post office after thirty years of service. He married Hellen Biggerstaff on July 15, 1943 at Lincoln, Nebraska. He was a member of the V.F.W. Beaver Bartek Post No. 4502, American Legion Post No. 82, Hilltop Country Club and Wahoo Eagles Aerie No. 2971. Survivors are his wife, Helen of Wahoo; sons and daughter-in-laws, Jerry and Connie of Columbus and Mark and Sue of Cleburne, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, DonNell and James Butcher of Lincoln; a half-sister, Arline Cottrell of Fremont; 6 grandchildren; and 1 great granddaughter. Funeral services were held Thursday, September 22 at the United Methhodist Church, Wahoo, with the Rev. Arthur Swarthout officiating. Graveside military services were provided by F.F.W. Beaver Bartek Post No. 4502 and American Legion Post No. 82. Funeral soloist was Mrs. Christie Tyler with Mrs. Ruth Way Anderson at the organ. Casket bearers were: Fred and Richard Pearson, Fred Mittan, Ronald and Allan Biggerstaff, and Ben Stuart. Pruss Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
