Read More	Donald Doman, former resident of Valley Springs, SD, died December 2, 2011, at Sanford / USD Medical Center. He was 93. Donald F. Doman was born January 20, 1918, in Minnehaha County, SD, to Alice Gibson. He was raised in Valley Springs, SD, where he assisted his father on the farm. Following his graduation from Valley Springs High School, he worked at John Morrell and Company. Donald was united in marriage to Ethel Lund on July 16, 1940. Donald worked Great Lakes Pipeline and Zip Feeds for a period of time while he farmed. Talented as a carpenter, he built his home and all the out buildings on the farm. In early years, Ethel and Donald enjoyed watching their son, David play basketball. In their free time, they enjoyed playing cards and on Saturday nights, liked attending area dances. Ethel preceded him in death on March 14, 1981. For years, Donald played horse shoes at McKennan Park. He enjoyed raising horses and hooking up the horse-drawn sleigh for family sleigh rides. A talented welder and builder, he made a bean buggy that appeared in a national farm journal publication. Donald loved spending time out in his shop and could fix just about anything. He was always willing to help those in need. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Elks Club and the Moose. Grateful for having shared his lire are his son, David Doman; daughters, Donna Sheldon, and Denise Bly (Lyle), all of Sioux Falls, SD; five grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mavis Clark and Marie Bennett.
