He married Barbara Von Ahsen Aug. 12, 1961, at St. Paul Lutheran Church. He worked over 30 years for Ralston Purina Company, retiring as an industrial engineer in 2002. Gahring is survived by his wife; one daughter and three sons and their spouses, Scott and Barb, Houston; Joel, Gainesville, Ga.; Robin and Kevin Groeper, Houston, and Shawn and Candace, St. Louis, Mo.; his mother, Ruth Gahring, Williamsburg; 11 grandchildren, Hilary, Ryan and Kaitlyn Gahring, Justin and Sarah Gahring, Alex, Jenna, Andrew and Emily Groeper, and Christian and Sacha Gahring; two brothers and their wives, Bill and Melanie Gahring, Leesburg, Ga., and Dale and Barb, Williamsburg; one sister and her husband, Susan and Steve Ahrens, Conroy, and his mother-in-law, Doris Von Ahsen, Williamsburg. He was preceded in death by his father, in 1992; an infant sister, Linda Gahring; a twin brother, Ronald, in 2009; his father-in-law, Wilferd Von Ahsen, and one brother-in-law, David Von Ahsen. Funeral services for Donald Gahring were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, at Zion Lutheran Church, Wahlburg, Texas. Memorial services may be held in Williamsburg at a later date.
