McLean, died 8:16 p.m. Oct 1, 2002, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center. He was born April 30, 1917 in Ottumwa to George and Daisy Dunning Jennings. He married Mary Rebel May 20, 1938. A resident of Ottumwa all of his life, he was a retired truck driver. He served in the United States Army during World War II with the 87th Mountain Infantry and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a life member of Walter B. Schafer Post No. 775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of O.B. Nelson Post No. 3 American Legion. Surviving is his wife, two sons Robert "Butch" Jennings and Paul "Jim" Jennings both of Ottumwa; four daughters, Mary Ann Johnson of Ocala, Fla., Donna Cary of Burlington, Patricia "Pat" Thomas of Ottumwa and Linda Sanders of Davenport; 16 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a great-grandson; a sister, Doris Skinner, and a brother Bill Jennings. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. Mel Kendall officiating. Burial will be at Shaul Cemetery. Military services will be conducted by Walter B. Schafer Post No.775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and O.B. Nelson Post No. 3 who will also serve as pallbearers. Visitation wull begin 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to Hospice Inc., 312 E. Alta Vista, Ottumwa. Ottumwa Courier - Thurs.
