Description	:	Donald Hunzelman, 77, of State Center, died late Friday night, August 4, at the Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. Funeral services were held at 10:30 am Tuesday, August 8, at the St John Lutheran church north of State Center with Pastor Marvin Flanscha officiating. Burial followed in the St John cemetery. Read More	Donald Hunzelman, 77, of State Center, died late Friday night, August 4, at the Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. Funeral services were held at 10:30 am Tuesday, August 8, at the St John Lutheran church north of State Center with Pastor Marvin Flanscha officiating. Burial followed in the St John cemetery. Don was born on September 18, 1922 in St Anthony, he was the son of Warren and Hilda Hennies Hunzelman. He received his education in the St John Parochial School. On April 20, 1952 he was united in marriage to Carol Riese at the St John Lutheran church. They had farmed on the Hunzelman family farm south of St Anthony and moved to State Center in 1973. He was employed with the city of State Center for many years, as well as driving a school bus for the West Marshall School District. Mr Hunzelman was a member of the St John Lutheran church, the AAL State Federation officer for over 35 years, the Walther League serving as State President Iowa District East, the State Center Lions serving as past president, the West Marshall Boosters and chaired the Rose Festival for many years. Surviving him are his daughter Marcia (Mrs Eric) Leibinger of Jacksonville, Florida; two sisters, Lucille Hunzelman of State Center and Dorothy (Mrs Phil) Vaughan of Naples, Florida; a brother, Vernon (Marjorie) Hunzelman of Marshalltown and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, his beloved wife, Carol on December 18, 1981, and a brother Reuben Hunzelman. August 10, 2000 State Center Enterprise.
